The A2 motorway between Utrecht and Amsterdam has been closed since 3:30 PM on Thursday afternoon between Breukelen and Vinkeveen after a serious accident between two passenger cars. According to the police, a car arrived on the wrong side of the road via the central reservation and crashed into oncoming traffic.
Just before the accident, the ANWB had warned about a ghost driver on the A2.
It is unknown whether people were injured in the accident. Emergency services are on site, the police report. Traffic behind the accident is diverted from Maarssen.
A lane has also closed in the opposite direction due to the accident. This caused a traffic jam between Holendrecht and Breukelen with a delay of up to almost an hour.
Rijkswaterstaat advises road users to drive. They can take a detour from Utrecht and Den Bosch via Hilversum on the A27, A1 and A9. It is not yet known when the five-lane road will open again. The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and are looking for witnesses.
The # A2 at Breukelen is really closed. Annoying, but the reason for the closure is worse ...Avatar
Traffic around Utrecht is completely certain
Traffic around Utrecht completely crashed during the evening rush hour, reports the ANWB. In addition to the accident on the A2, work on the Galecopper Bridge on the A12 near Oudenrijn is also responsible for this.
On the A12 from The Hague to Utrecht, the delay was around one and a half hours between Nieuwerbrug and the Lunetten junction around 5 pm. The A27, A1 and N230 between Maarsen and Utrecht were also established in both directions.
The situation around Utrecht now, partly due to closure # A2> Amsterdam at Breukelen, also very busy now on diversion route via # A27 and # A1 (both directions)Avatar
