      Earthquake outside Nordmaling

An earthquake measuring 2.7 magnitude occurred in the vicinity of Nordmaling on Thursday evening. - There are only three, four pieces of this size or larger per year, says Bj?rn Lund, seismologist at Uppsala University.

The earthquake occurred about five miles northwest of Nordmaling and about as far north of ?rnsk?ldsvik. According to Bj?rn Lund, earthquakes are common in this area.

      - In the ?rnsk?ldsvik tract and south it is a stretch with quite a lot of earthquakes.

Today's earthquake was relatively deep down and Bj?rn Lund believes that the effects will then not be as great.

      - It may have been a little scratched in the glasses, but often it mumbles or if you are close by you can hear a sharp bang.

Earthquakes of this magnitude or greater occur three to four times a year. The last quake of about the same size in April 2007 was about two miles a day.
