More and more lease cars are equipped with hybrid drive, lease company ALD Automotive reports Wednesday. In the first half of this year, the number of hybrids increased by 32 percent from a year earlier.

The number of fully electric lease cars and lease vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive was also on the rise. This category grew by 5 percent compared to last year. The most popular lease car in the past year was the hybrid Kia Niro.

That model was measured over the first six months of this year, also the best-selling car in the Netherlands.

"We see that the hybrid has an increasingly important part in this when we compare it to the fully electric car. The acceleration of greening is therefore very much benefited by an attractive additional tax system for fully electric driving," said ALD director Jeroen Kruisweg. .
